Academic Health Science Center
The Academic Health Science Center at Spokane’s Riverpoint Campus is more than a medical school. It’s about transforming the future of health care with a new kind of teaching and research center that will be an economic game changer for the region. It’s a partnership between WSU, UW, EWU and our strong health care and business community.
These universities share a vision for expanding medical education and research in Spokane on the Riverpoint Campus by creating a four-year medical school. This new medical school will be an excellent resource for the Inland Northwest and Washington State as a whole. Currently, our state imports more than 80% of our doctors from other states. With the nation’s population growing and aging at record levels, a shortage of medical professionals is developing. The construction of a four-year medical training facility in Spokane, will provide our community with improved health care access, improved health care quality, and it will also provide a sustainable economic impact to our community.
